Fonda, John G. Bvt. Union General ALS, 2p, 4to, Feby 23, 1907, to Lauretta A. Dillman, Brooklyn, NY. Describes his war service as Lt. Col. of 118th Ill infantry vols. near Port Hudson, which pursued some Confederates who had attacked a stockade and taken
prisoners. His command "killed some, captured some, and retook the prisoners they had taken.” Comes with a printed card detailing his service.
