General Michael Corcoran and Staff CDV of the
Irish-born American general with his staff outside a tent. He was a close confidant of President Abraham
Lincoln and led the 69th New York Regiment into action at the First
Battle of Bull Run. He later left the
69th and formed the Corcoran Legion, consisting of at least five other New York
regiments.
