Charles A. Butler WIA 23rd Iowa CDV removed from a 23rd Iowa album. Identified in the album as Great Grandfather Butler. Charles A. Butler was wounded at Big Black River Bridge, MS. It was accompanied by a period ink note mentioning Eva Butler . My research showed Eva Van Wey lived in Ness County, Kansas in 1920. She was the head of the household's daughter, 44 years old, and
identified as white. Eva was born in Missouri around 1876. Her father was born in Indiana, and her mother was born in Illinois. Their names were Charles A. Butler and Malinda Butler. In 1920, Eva was a widow. No backmark. Some of the background of the photo is missing.
