08263 Union Veteran  1/6 plate tintype of a veteran
wearing his Civil War 9 button frock coat. I asked
Dan Binder to examine the buttons and this is his take
“ they appear to be standard Civil War era US staff
eagle buttons.  These are of three piece construction,
having the back and convex face secured together by a
separate annular ring.  I can’t 100% guarantee it, but
they appear to be of the die variant listed in Albert’s
book as GS 19A.  If so, they were made by Steele &
Johnson circa 1860”. This soldier proudly wears his G.
A.R. badge on his frock coat.  Full case.  $250
