11558 The Death U.S. Colored Troop Soldier Letter – W.
Henry Gray brother of Robert Gray, US CT 9th Infantry
Bugler. ADS, 3pp, 8” x5”, Houton, Maine, January 8, 1865.
Very Good.  A signed letter from W. Henry Gray to friend
Edwin with “not much of any news that I can write to you so
you will I think find this a rather dull letter.”  Goes on to
mention “I suppose you herd of the death of my Brother
Robert this fall. He was killed while leading his Reg’t. to
charge on ‘Fort Gilmer’ on the 29th of September.  His
Remains was sent home in December.”  $275

Enlisted on 10/13/1863 as a Musician.

On 11/30/1863 he mustered into "H" Co. US CT 9th Infantry
He was Killed on 9/29/1864 at Chaffin's Farm, VA
