18338 Twin Soldiers by black photographer Harry Shepherd
Cabinet card of twin Indian Wars soldiers. Marked Shepherd,
St. Paul. Harry Shepherd was the first African American
studio owner in Minnesota. He won gold medals at the
Minnesota State Fair in 1891, was appointed official
photographer for the Afro-American Exhibit at the Paris
Exposition, and at the peak of his career was earning up to
$20,000 a year. Identified on the verso in ink as Vino Place.
