18393 2nd Indiana Cav- Andersonville POW 1/6 plate tintype of a
double armed Cavalryman. Identified in period pencil on the verso as
James Absher. Absher served in Co F of the 2nd Indiana Cav.
Captured in the area of the Chattahoochee River he was sent to the
infamous Andersonville prison where he survived to mustered out in
January of 1865. He is dressed in his Cav uniform with Carbine sling
over one shoulder and the sling for his sword over the other. His Cav
saber is held upright and his Sharps carbine is cradled in his other
hand. His Hardee hat with Cav insignia and an Ostrich plume rests on
the nearby table. Patriotic thermoplastic case. $3,750
