19389 Commanding General of the U.S. Army and Medal of Honor
recipient Nelson A. Miles
TLS, 1 p, on letterhead of the Headquarters
of the Army, Washington, D.C., October 11, 1895.  “My dear Major,
Your very kind letter of October 5th was duly received, and it recalls
the pleasant days and bright prospects while we served in Salignac’s
Corps, also guard mounts out on the field at Bladensburg, and many
recollections of the war.
I am glad you enjoy the bicycle, for I have found it a most fascinating
exercise and amusement.
Mrs. Miles and Celia are very well, and the boy is now twelve years
old and growing very rapidly. He bids fair to be a stalwart young man.
I shall be glad to see you whenever you come to Washington.
Very sincerely yours, Nelson A. Miles    $150
