Captain John Chase Lost at Sea – This ⅙ plate daguerreotype reveals a pensively looking naval officer wearing long sideburns and gold gilded shoulder boards. On the back of the case a handwritten note reads "Cap’t John Case father Geo. B. Chase lost at sea with all on board, happened about 1835.”
