Lieutenant in Washington CDV of an officer wearing the baggy cut of uniform that was popular
with some officers in the Army of the Potomac near the end of the war. It
consists of an extra-large sack coat and supersized trousers. He wears
his Lieutenant’s bars in an unusual manner, on his collars. It is not
very commonly seen either in photographs or surviving uniforms. Back marked
R.W. Addis, Washington, D.C.
