On Tuesday evening last, Lieutenant Charles J Stees, of Company G, 6th Regiment, Adjutant & Lieutenant Florian E Snow and Mr Litchfield of the M & P R R, were coming down the steep hill from Ft Snelling to the ferry, when the breeching gave way and the horses ran down an almost perpendicular bank into a gully, breaking the buggy in to pieces and throwing its occupants out. They were all more less bruised, principally on the face and head, but by large a real miracle, to judge from the frightful plunge they took, escaped any serious injury.

Adjutant Snow was taken back to the Fort, and his wound, a cut over the eye, dressed. He will be about in a day or two, however. Lieutenant Stees’ only misfortune is in being compelled to appear in public with a "beauty spot” on the most prominent facial feature, which does not however, disturb his pleasant good nature, even when rallied by his friends.
