9th Illinois Sergeant 1/9 plate tintype of a sharp young sergeant wearing a tam o shanter with similar pattern to a known 9th Illinois soldier. Contained in a patriotic brass mat. At Shiloh, the ninth had the largest number of causalities of any Illinois unit. CDV example from internet not included.
