Brownell Ferrotypes Two circular tintypes (1” diameter) in a brass donut frame. Both sides features a portrait of Francis Brownell and says "Brownell the Avenger.” There is a small hole at the top for hanging. Ellsworth became the first casualty of the Civil War when he was killed by innkeeper James W. Jackson. Brownell is believed to have avenged his death.
