John H. Surratt -LincolnConspiratorA rare CDV view of Surratt who was the only conspirator in the assassination of
Abraham Lincoln to evade punishment. After the assassination, he fled to Canada
and then Europe, where he joined the Papal Zouaves in Rome. He was arrested in
1866, extradited to the U.S., and put on trial. The trial ended in a hung jury,
and he was released, after which he worked as a teacher and auditor, living
until 1916.
