His novels, including Oliver Twist (1837–39), A Christmas Carol (1843), David Copperfield (1849–50), Bleak House (1852–53), and Great Expectations (1860–61), blended social commentary, vivid characters, and intricate plots. A tireless writer, he produced 15 novels, numerous short stories, and essays, often critiquing social injustices like poverty and child labor. Dickens also gave public readings, captivating audiences in England and America. Despite personal struggles, including a complex marriage and health issues, his storytelling revolutionized the novel, influencing generations.
