Confederate Major General George Edward Pickett At Gettysburg, Pickett led his fresh division of Virginians in a massive frontal assault against the Union center at Cemetery Ridge. The attack, known as "Pickett’s Charge," resulted in catastrophic failure; over half of his men were killed, wounded, or captured, and Pickett famously told Robert E.
