Three Seated Artillerymen Musicians with
Horns 1/6
plate daguerreotype of a trio all holding upright saxhorns. All seem to have
berliner valves--the true saxhorns. Adolph Sax, father of the saxhorn, used
berliner valves. The horns are very simple, and very open wrap. Very earlier
versions of this type of horn. All four horns in the two images are soprano
saxhorns--in other words, cornets in Eb and Bb. A rare image in a satchel style
case. (Thank you to Mark Jones on the horn
descriptions). This is a consignment which at one time was in my personal collection. An outstanding image.
