Newton Bateman Signed CDV Bateman was friend and political ally of Abraham Lincoln. He is known for an interview he did where he talked about a conversation he had with Lincoln regarding Lincoln’s religious views. He later became President of Knox College in Illinois. Back marked Manchester Bros., Providence, R.I. and signed on the verso "With regards of Newton Bateman.”
