George Glover 43rd Alabama (Quarter plate ambrotype)and his Identified Slave Diven (Ninth plate ambrotype): George Frederick Glover inherited a large plantation from his father. In the 1860 census, his holdings are listed at a value of $200,000. In May 1861, right before heading off to war, Glover married Alice Henley. He listed as a lieutenant in the 43rd Alabama and was engaged at Chickamauga in the battle of Perryville. He resigned in 1864, having attained the rank of captain. After the war George Frederick went into the railroad business and died in 1875. This is part of a larger grouping.
