Street Showing McAllister and Brothers Optician Shop, Philadelphia Dec 12, 1854 CDV Street
scene including McAllister’s shop at 48 Chestnut around the time the business
moved to 194 Chestnut (728 Chestnut, post-consolidation). Shows staff and
family members, including the proprietor John McAllister (3rd floor right),
looking out of windows in the upper stories. McAllister was a colleague of
Cornelious and Goddard. Also depicts adjoining stores including Maas card &
job printing office and a partial view of Currey’s trimmings store. Copied from
the original daguerreotype. No back mark.
