Tinted Iowa Olmstead Zouave1/6 plate tintype of a nicely tinted Zouave standing by the photographer’s chair. The image is in a most desirable patriotic mat and a thermoplastic case. The Omstead Zouaves were organized in1868 as an independent company in Des Moines by Captain Furron Olmstead formerly of the 22^nd Ohio and 59^thOhio (Later Colonel). According to a Des Moine Newspaper the Olmstead Zouaves represented some of the bravest regiments in the Western Army.
