The Rickshaw A CDV of two ladies posing with sun-hatted runner in a rickshaw (or jinrikisha) with cover folded down. Between the spokes of the wheel, you can just make out a mon or family crest which would only belong to samurai class - so this is likely a family’s private rickshaw and servant (wearing straw sandals). Taken outdoors - which is probably unusual. Rickshaws are generally considered to have been invented in Japan circa 1869 in Tokyo, so this is an early example of a rickshaw.
