U.S. Grant Signature3 ¾” X 1 7/8” mounted to 4 3/4 "X 3 ¼” Grant signs in pencil on a preprinted paper. Wednesday Evening, May 18. 1881, "U.S. Grant” Central Music Hall, Chicago. On May 18, 1881, Ulysses S. Grant, a former US President, was in Chicago as part of a "Homecoming" tour. During his time in Chicago, he met with a delegation of Black citizens and assured them of their rights as outlined by the law and constitutional amendments. Grant later continued his journey across the country, including stops in Louisville, Xenia, Pittsburgh, and Philadelphia.
