Jones Siamese Twins cabinet card. These babies were
born to Mr. & Mrs. James H. Jones of Tipton, Indiana on June 24, 1889. The babies were joined at the pelvises, each having its own vital organs, and lived through the earliest months of life and were placed on exhibit. (from 1889 annual report of the Indiana State Board of Health). An article from Evansville, Indiana dated March 3, 1890 read "The parents of the Jones
twins of Wabash, which have created great interest in medical circles, being joined together, have decided to bury the infants in their own door yard to avoid grave robbery. Mr. and Mrs. Jones have received tempting offers for the bodies by Anatomists, but have declined them all. Every possible precaution will be made to prevent the bodies from being stolen. The parents of the freak realized a small fortune by exhibiting the children.” An ink inscription on the verso states "The Jones family with Siamese twins just 3 weeks older than Romeo Duncan lived about 3 months.” I believe that the three months life span is referring to Romeo Duncan, not the twins.
