it was in. Back marked Mundy Artist 243 King Street Charleston, SC. Captain
Thomas Epaphroditus Howle (1825-1862) was part of the 8th SC Volunteer
Infantry, Company F, Darlington District. He was the only member of this
company that was killed in action on September 17th 1862 near Dunker Church at
Sharpsburg (Antietam)
