General Henry
Halleck CDV Standing 3/4 view of
the general in uniform. Member of the West Point class of
1839. Although he was very successful in business and in writing and
acquired a fortune, he was not so well regarded as a military
officer. His primary virtue may have been his unflinching insistence
upon order and discipline, which was lacking in the early days of the
war. Back mark E. & H.T. Anthony.
