Panotype of a Tinted Lady Every collection should have an example of a panotype. This 1/6 plate on leather was produced in a manner similar to an ambrotype but the image is on a piece of leather. This one is a slightly smaller than a 1/6 plate which allowed it to move around over the years behind the mat. It has a piece of ruby glass behind the image now to help support the leather and the entire package is taped together with archival tape like a daguerreotype to prevent anything from moving. A nice example of this seldom seen process.
