NY 4th Heavy Artillery "Plastic Operation” CDV , 5 views of wounded soldier Rowland Ward, gunshot wound to right side of his face. A very rare view.

Rowland Ward was struck by a shell fragment during the fight at Reams Station in 1864. The result was the complete destruction of the floor of his mouth. He was operated on by Gurdon Buck who was a pioneer military plastic surgeon during the Civil War.
