Maj. Gen. Jos Hooker - CDV captures Joseph Hooker (1814 - 1879) the Major General in the United States Army. He graduated from the US Military Academy in 1837 and served in the Seminole Wars and the Mexican American War. He led many battles, notably the Battle of Williamsburg, the Battle of Antietam, the Battle of Fredericksburg, and the Battle of Chancellorsville. He was known as "Fighting Joe” ,he had the reputation of being a ladies man. Image portrays the general in a heads and shoulder shot wearing his General’s uniform. Front of the card is marked in pencil, "Maj. Gen’l J. Hooker” and printed "Entered according to Act of Congress in the year 1862 by M.B. Brady, in the clerk’s office of the District Court of the District of Columbia.” Back of card has "Hooker” in pencil printed and "Published by E & H.T. Anthony 501 Broadway New York from Photographic Negative in Brady’s National Portrait Gallery.”
